Did you hear? Christina Aguilera is to star in her first acting role in a movie called
‘Burlesque’, alongside Kristen Bell and Cher – who returns to the big screen after
11 years!
In the style of a musical, the movie tells the story of a small-town girl who discovers
a Burlesque club in LA. Cool hey?
Now, we know that Christina is a big fan of retro style and playing dress up,
as we have seen her on videos like ‘Lady Marmalade’, ‘Candyman’, ‘Ain’t No Other Man’
among others, where she appears dressed up as a gorgeous vintage glamour
puss and she suits the whole pin up, femme fatale look, non?
Didn’t you love her in the circus themed video of the song ‘Hurt’…
I love the below clip of her too, it has a lovely retro feel and she exudes
a very Burlesque star like sex appeal:
I always thought that Christina would rock as a Burlesque star, so when I heard
that she was to star in this movie, my heart almost leapt out with excitement, as
I am a huge fan of a Burlesque show. But on close inspection, turns out that the
movie seems to be more about the old…
… Rather than Burlesque as in…
But what about us Burlesque lovers? Surely we want our Burlesque to be
about Burlesque right? Not just about the old singing and dancing. Well…
judging by the trailer and the reviews so far, it really looks like it is going
to be a case of just another film in the song-and-dance genre, rather than
being the fabulous tassel twirling affair that we all had in mind or even better,
a movie about the legendary ‘Art Of Tease’.
Check out the trailer:
I know, meh.
Well, after all what did we expect? Christina Aguilera is a
singer not a Burlesque star, so I guess we’ll just have to wait until the release
of the movie on November 14th to find out if Christina will manage to tickle
our Burlesque fancy or not.
In the meantime, we can always rely on the real Burlesque stars of London’s
very own Moulin Rouge: The Wam Bam Club at Cafe de Paris!
Here at The Wam Bam Club it is all about the fabulous world of vintage glamour
and the vrai Art of Burlesque.
Check out next Saturday’s programme here and psssst! make sure you get
your tickets pronto ’cause I heard through the grapevine that the last couple
of seasons had completely sold out, way in advance!
Here’s a quick slideshow from last week’s fab show!
See you next Saturday!
xoxo
