Did you hear? Christina Aguilera is to star in her first acting role in a movie called
‘Burlesque’, alongside Kristen Bell and Cher – who returns to the big screen after
11 years!
In the style of a musical, the movie tells the story of a small-town girl who discovers
a Burlesque club in LA. Cool hey?

At The Wam Bam Club we love fashion as much as we love a Burlesque show, so it doesn’t
really come as a surprise that we are all huge fans of the highest of all fashion statements:
The Top Hat!

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was the enfant terrible of the art world in fin de
siècle Paris.
The father of today’s modern poster, Toulouse-Lautrec lived a decadent and
bohemian lifestyle in the city which, at the time, was a magnet for young artists
from all over the world. He shot to fame becoming one of the most influential
artists of his generation, thanks to this iconic image:

Being a lover of both, a burlesque show and a fashion show, I am in actual heaven when I see the two arts meet.
First, it was Immodesty Blaize who wowed us at Ziad Ghanem’s Fall 2010 collection,
where in a sensational and very dramatic mini show on the catwalk, she came out of
the layers and layers of divine Ziad Ghanem couture, ending up in a heart-strikingly
beautiful, vintage-looking, boned, peek-a-boo inner garment, which left the audience
-quoting the fabulous Georgie Bee, shoe designer and one of the models at the show-“ sliding right off their seats in complete couturegasm”.

What do you mean Blaze who? Blaze Starr, as in “The Hottest Blaze in Burlesque”!!!
Born Fannie Belle Fleming (already sounds like a Burlesque star name don’t ya think?)
in January 1, 1932 Blaze is one of the star icons of the Burlesque scene. She was a femme
fatale, a sex symbol and a very talented actress and performer. Her vivacious presence
and her creative use of stage props earned her the title of: “The Hottest Blaze in Burlesque”.
She was also rather notorious for her love affair with Louisiana’s governor Earl Long.

Lady Alex & Fifi Femelle – Fancy a nibble?
My dear readers,
Chocolate and sex are so interlinked, I find it hard to separate or even chose between them. So I like to blur the boundaries with my orgasmic recipe for the ultimate oral indulgence.
Best prepared in nothing more then an apron and a smile.
Share with friends.
Ingredients
• 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
• 3 cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted
• 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips, melted
• 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
Directions
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually beat in
confectioners’ sugar until well blended. Stir in melted
chocolate and vanilla until no streaks remain. Refrigerate for about 1
hour. Shape into 1 inch balls. Don’t be greedy … more then a handful
is a waste!

![Lady Alex, Pet Detective]()
Nothing says burlesque in Springtime like bunny ears.
I recently decided we needed to do a spring-themed Easter photo shoot for Wam Bam. Its always good to be fresh and exciting with new photos for the website.
I wanted white picket fences; ample bunches of daffodils and lederhosen. Well why not?! My shoot, my vision – until someone pointed out the Germanic overtones of lederhosen made it more ‘Springtime for Hitler’ than ‘Springtime for Wam Bam’. To soften things up a bit, I decided to bring in some livestock. A sprinkling of rabbits here, a lamb and a chick there, it would be perfect. Rachael, my trusty sidekick, suggested going to an animal agency as they come with handler which take care of animal discipline and hopefully animal droppings, which really aren’t my area of expertise. So I started researching animal agencies online.

![An Interview with Rachael Polsom]()
Rachael Polsom
Come Saturday night, Rachael is Lady Alex’s right hand. You can see her on and around the stage, but you’d never learn enough to pick her out of a line up. Rachael has developed ninja like skills for fading into the background while she ensures acts get on and off stage on cue. It’s also her responsibility to ensure rehearsals only end when she knows how to set the stage for the routine, and how to ensure props come on and off at the right time. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg for Wam Bam’s stage manager . . .
Can you give readers a run through of what you have to do on Saturdays?
Well, [Deep breath] I arrive 4 hours before the show goes up to manage the technical and sound check rehearsal. Continue reading “An Interview with Rachael Polsom – Stage Manager”
